Presenter bio

Maysam Gholampour is a researcher in integrated energy systems and building energy optimisation at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Taiwan. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on energy conversion. His work centres on multi-energy coupling strategies that bridge power generation, thermal management, and building services for decarbonisation.

His current research investigates how high-temperature fuel cell systems at data centres can serve as distributed thermal sources for surrounding buildings, turning waste heat into a retrofit asset for existing commercial and residential stock. This work spans electrochemical modelling, absorption cooling cycle design, and district heating network analysis, with emphasis on retrofit compatibility with legacy HVAC infrastructure. Maysam has hands-on experience with simulation platforms including EnergyPlus, Modelica, Dyad, and Julia-based energy system modelling, combined with a strong foundation in thermal system design and HVAC analysis. His approach prioritises translating complex findings into actionable guidance for building owners, facility managers, and HVAC engineers.

He is keen to establish collaborative research and industry partnerships in building decarbonisation and energy transition.
