Decarbonizing existing buildings is often deemed “too hard” due to structural limits and operational downtime. This presentation uses five diverse case studies to demonstrate how modular HVAC technology overcomes these barriers.

We highlight the Bunnings Seven Hills project, where a Blackhawk helicopter was used to bypass crane constraints and complete a retrofit in just one hour before Sunday trading. Further cases include BookTopia, where 3D air diffusion solved WH&S temperature issues in high-level racking, and Bunnings Grafton, which achieved thermal comfort in a high-humidity environment without costly fabric upgrades. Finally, we explore the circular economy through the Blackmores and HomeCo Mackay projects, where modular systems were successfully relocated over 1,000km to reduce embodied carbon and support Green Star ratings.

This session proves that innovative, modular thinking is the key to accelerating the industry’s journey
