The commercial HVAC sector has widely adopted analytics and fault detection technologies to support reduced operating costs, improved indoor air quality, and decarbonisation objections. However, sustained portfolio-scale data-driven maintenance remains uncommon.
This presentation explores why many data-driven maintenance initiatives fail to deliver lasting outcomes. Drawing on experiences across multiple large commercial property portfolios, it demonstrates that the barriers are operational rather than technical. Tradition procurement models reward lowest-cost bid encouraging reactive maintenance , limiting the effectiveness of analytics, metering and monitoring technologies.
